Many children and young people face significant challenges within the mainstream education system for a variety of reasons. Designed to cater to large groups of students, mainstream schools often struggle to meet the diverse needs of individuals, particularly when resources are limited. At Evolve Outreach, we take a holistic approach to supporting young people. We believe in not only providing academic learning opportunities but also prioritising the development of self-esteem, life skills, future employability, resilience, and coping strategies.
For many young people, difficulties in mainstream education can stem from missed periods of schooling or low attendance. Some may be looked-after children who have experienced multiple moves, which can lead to delays in finding a new educational setting. This disruption often causes them to fall behind academically, eroding their confidence and making it harder to seek help in traditional classroom environments.
At Evolve Outreach, we use a relational model of support. By building trust and taking the time to understand each young person, we can uncover the root causes of their struggles and work to break down the barriers they face. Whether the goal is reintegration into mainstream education or finding a more tailored specialist provision, we collaborate with the young person and their support team to create effective strategies and ensure a positive transition.
Our approach is centred on a diverse range of activities, each tailored to the individual needs of the young people we work with. These activities are designed to align with their learning outcomes in engaging, creative ways. Examples include physical activities like indoor climbing or swimming to promote positive physical and mental health, animal care and forest school sessions, as well as quiet study time to focus on academic work such as mock exams. We also provide experiences in the community to foster personal growth, resilience and a sense of belonging.
All sessions are documented in detailed digital records, which are shared as needed to support multi-agency collaboration and track progress toward the young person's goals.
