When young people move out of area to a new home, there is usually a delay in identifying an education provision, whether this is mainstream or specialist. This delay is understandably frustrating for the young person and those involved in their care. Trying to establish routine and create a clear divide between home and school can be challenging when the child does not have an identified school to attend. At Evolve Outreach, we fully understand the delicate balance of encouraging educational activities while also building relationships, providing structure, and supporting the young person’s emotional needs during a period of significant change. We are able to support the team and the young person until a full time provision is identified or make up part of a young person’s weekly timetable long term.
Due to our vast experience supporting vulnerable, looked after young people, we understand the importance of working collaboratively to ensure their safety and the safety of the adults caring for them within their home. In our experience, young people who have experienced trauma and neglect require an environment where they are nurtured and listened to alongside predictable routine, clear boundaries and expectations. We have found that this supports the feeling of safety and promotes positive relationships. We work closely with the provider and wider team around the child to understand both current and historical risks and implement appropriate risk management. We communicate effectively with the child’s team and respond to any emerging safeguarding needs, as well as providing detailed records as standard.
All of our staff are carefully recruited in line with Schedule 2 of the Children’s Home Regulations, ensuring that the highest standards of safety and professionalism are met.
